YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A six-week manhunt ended yesterday with the arrest of a fourth suspect in the luxury high-rise home-invasion robbery of developer Fred Daibes in Edgewater, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said this morning.
Molinelli also disclosed the identity of another suspect charged earlier in connection with the the Nov. 26 overnight robbery at the St. Moritz, which Daibes built and lives in.
Jorge Valencia, 46, was being held on a fugitive warrant pending his extradition to New Jersey following his arrest in the Boston area yesterday. Valencia ( above, left ) is charged with armed burglary, theft, possession of a handgun, hindering arrest, being a fugitive from justice and conspiracy to commit kidnapping and armed robbery. Bail was set at $1,000,000.
Molinelli also disclosed the identity of another man — 20-year-old Alexander Suarez — charged in connection with the robbery.
Authorities said the bandits broke Daibes’ ribs while taking $2 million in cash, gold and jewelry — all of which was recovered.
Two others who live in the Gorge Road building, Ramona Mercado Vasquez and Adonis Sepulveda, were arrested by detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Special Investigations Unit a day after Daibes was pulled from his bed in the middle of the night and beaten during what authorities said was a nearly three-hour ordeal.
Both continued to be held on $1 million bail each in the Bergen County Jail — although their lawyers contend that the pair was set up by building employees whom they didn’t identify.
