Sylvia (Plotnick) Malakoff, 95, Edgewater Resident

EDGEWATER, N.J. -- Sylvia (Plotnick) Malakoff, of Edgewater, died on Tuesday, Jan. 3. She was 95.

Born in 1921, Malakoff was an active member of Temple Israel in Cliffside Park, and she was a past president of the Sisterhood of Temple Israel. She was involved in many fundraising events.

Malakoff helped her husband in his clothing store in Union City over many years, and she devoted her life to her family, information from the funeral home noted.

She is survived by her children, Gail Hutnik and Jay Malakoff; grandchildren Beth Tecchio and Francine Hutnik; and great-grandchildren Annabella and Nicholas. She was predeceased by her husband, Irving Malakoff.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m on Thursday, Jan. 5, at Cedar Park Cemetery, in Emerson, followed by shiva at the Hutnik residence until 9 p.m. A.K. Macagna Funeral Home, in Cliffside Park, assisted with arrangements.
