Officials Consider Addition To Edgewater School

EDGEWATER, N.J. -- Edgewater's Eleanor Van Gelder School may be getting an even larger addition that originally envisioned, according to the Edgewater View. The revised plans will include a 200-seat auditorium and probably at least one additional floor.

An upgrade is still planned for the Eleanor Van Gelder School, though the size of the addition is still somewhat unsettled.

The additional floor would be needed because the auditorium will displace new classroom space. The addition will now contain at least four floors, as well as a parking garage, according to reporting from the Edgewater View. A recent demographic report notes current student growth and projects more.

According to the Edgewater View, Board Trustees expect the design to be finalized by May. A special committee, comprised of board members, school district staff, teachers and community members will first consider it, then the school board. Voters will then be asked to approve the project's funding, perhaps by the end of the year.
