EDGEWATER, N.J. -- The Edgewater Board of Education is asking residents to support a much-needed expansion of the century-old Eleanor Van Gelder school by approving a spending referendum in December, reported NorthJersey.com.
If approved, the school in the rapidly growing riverside community will be enlarged by 20 classrooms under a spending plan of between $30 million and $32 million, the report said.
The expansion, to be voted on Dec. 8, includes in addition to the classrooms a library, cafeteria, science lab, media center, three small group instruction rooms, administrative offices and faculty room. A music room designed for the third floor can be converted to two classrooms if needed, NorthJersey.com said.
Residents who want to arrange to view plans for the expansion, should contact the board at 201-945-4106.
