The academy, launched by borough police in the summer of 2011, exposes middle schoolers to the importance of community and public service.
Cadets are undergo a military training model aimed at instilling confidence, integrity, and self-esteem.
Each year the Academy accepts a limited number of motivated applicants to be a part of the August program.
Cadets were previously accepted regardless of financial circumstances, but this cost of operation required annual increases.
So academy officials are hoping that civic-minded citizens will provide full or partial sponsorships to help ease the burden on families who might have trouble affording it.
