Leonia Police Seek Help Finding Gas Station Robber

LEONIA, N.J. – Leonia detectives were seeking witnesses and checking area surveillance cameras after a late-afternoon gas station robbery.

An attendant at the Delta station on Broad Avenue told police the robber approached around 4:45 p.m. Friday and demanded money, “indicating that he had a handgun in his sweatshirt pocket,” Capt. Scott Tamagny said.

“The attendant turned over cash and the [robber] then fled on foot,” Tamagny said.

Leonia police searched the area, with help from their colleagues from Englewood, Fort Lee, Palisades Park and Ridgfield Park, as well as the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office. A sheriff’s K-9 unit also was deployed.

Tamagny described the robber as thinly built, about 5-foot-6 and wearing a black hoodie, black pants and black sneakers.
