Firefighters Battle Woodland Park Mulch Blaze

WOODLAND PARK, N.J. -- (UPDATE) Firefighters early Monday night put down a stubborn mulch blaze at a plant in Woodland Park.

The fire at Environmental Renewal on Andrews Drive fire broke out around 5:30 p.m.

Totowa firefighters provided mutual aid.

Crews used backhoes to break up logs while firefighters hosed the flames with aerial ladders.

Environmental Renewal makes various mulches and sells them, along with topsoil and compost. It is an NJ DEP-permitted vegetative waste disposal facility.
