EDGEWATER, N.J. -- Two Edgewater police officers and EMTs who helped secure an infant during a surprising home birth received Blue Stork pins from borough officials.
"The baby had already arrived, but he and his mother required medical assistance" when Officers James Dalton and Dan Massuda responded to the Feb. 4 911 call on Edgewater Place, Police Chief William Skidmore said.
EMTs Cheryl Reynolds and Allen Guo arrived soon after, the chief said. "With a coordinated effort, they were able to ensure the newborn's safety and health," he said.
"Due to their professionalism and expertise, they were able to even have the father participate in the final stages of the delivery," said Skidmore, who nominated all four for the special honor.
