Bombshell: Secretary says she had cyber sex, swapped pics with NB official on taxpayers’ dime

However, she said she always used her personal laptop and cellphone, while her boss, Peter Giunchini, at times communicated using a township computer.

“We were both set up,” Denise Mohr told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. “My computer is at home, and I have the bills to prove it.

“I did not know that texting on my private phone and laptop was wrong,” Mohr said, in an exclusive interview with CLIFFVIEWPILOT.COM late Wednesday. “He used township property, not me.”

The story was first reported earlier today on CLIFFVIEW PILOT (See: EXCLUSIVE: Inappropriate emails could cost NB public safety official his job).

Giunchini, the director of automotive services in North Bergen’s Public Safety Department, was called in after the emails were discovered, a township source close to the investigation told the web site. Township officials seized both Mohr’s and Giunchini’s work computers yesterday, the source said.

A receptionist at the Public Safety Office said Wednesday that Giunchini, a married father of three who holds a chief’s position with North Hudson Rescue Co. 1, is on paid medical leave.

Records show he made a base salary of $123,468 last year, ranking him among the Hudson County township’s highest-paid officials.

Mohr, 55, admitted that she and Giunchini, who lives in Cliffside Park, exchanged nude photos and conducted racy chats “as consenting adults.” However, she told the web site she always made sure to do so either with her own laptop or with her Blackberry.

“My life is ruined,” Mohr told CLIFFVIEW PILOT, saying she has been offered the same deal as her boss — quit quietly or be charged. “I am the victim in this mess.

“I have asked for Pete to contact me and he won’t.”

A jealous co-worker brought the exchanges to the attention of township officials, Mohr told the web site.

The secretary who ratted her out is “the woman scorned,” Mohr told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. “She has over-used her sick and vacation time and when I discovered it and reported it, this happened.

“She had access to all his passwords, etc. She is the one who has set both of us up. She got caught and had to have the blame somewhere else.

“I am not going to be anyone’s scapegoat,” Mohr said in the interview, conducted via instant messaging. “I’m not going to throw away 24 years [of working for the township].”

“I have put in just as much time in the town as he did,” said Mohr, who is single. “All I want to know is how are emails a crime and overusing your sick and vacation time not?”

Township officials are reserving comment.

“All we can say at this time is that the township is conducting an internal review of this matter,” North Bergen township spokesperson Philip Swibinski told CLIFFVIEWPILOT.COM Wednesday afternoon.
