Sgt. Geoffrey Cole and Officer Walter Kumka found the victim shirtless in his River Road bathroom -- a syringe and empty wax heroin fold nearby -- just before 8 p.m. Tuesday, Capt. James Sepp told Daily Voice.

"He was unconscious and unresponsive," Sepp said.

The officers deployed a shot of Narcan and waited three minutes with no response, then gave him a second dose.

"After about two minutes he opened his eyes and asked what was happening," the captain said.

The Bogota First Aid Squad and Holy Name Regional Medical Center paramedics also responded. He was taken to Holy Name, Sepp said.
