YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A car thief had such a fondness for 2013 Ford Mustangs, Port Authority police said, that he tried to steal two of them from a rental lot at Newark Airport less than three weeks apart — and was thwarted both times.
After busting him the first time, Port Authority detectives made quick work of identifying 22-year-old Eric S. Bradley in the second heist.
Finding him proved easy, they said.
Officers armed with his photo were waiting as Bradley exited a courtroom at the city courthouse in Newark on another matter yesterday, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT . They immediately took Bradley into custody, he said.
Bradley was charged with trying to steal a second late-model mustang on Sept. 21 from the airport Hertz Car Rental facility — the same place that Pentangelo said they caught him on Sept. 5 ( SEE: Ex-employee charged with stealing rental from Newark Airport after returning for gas ).
This time, Pentangelo said, Bradley pretended to be an employee with permission to remove the car. When questioned by other Hertz employees, he said, Bradley got out of the vehicle and took off on foot.
Bradley was being held on $35,000 bail, charged with burglary and theft.
