Emil Cola, 81, Former Cliffside Park Resident

CLIFFSIDE PARK, N.J. -- Emil Cola -- a Point Pleasant resident, formerly of Cliffside Park -- died on Tuesday, March 15. He was 81.

Born in Naples, Italy, Cola came to America with his siblings when he was 21. "Emil was a very hardworking union contractor who would do anything for his family," information from the funeral home noted. "He enjoyed watching football, making people laugh, and spending time with those he loved."

Cola is survived by his children, Patricia Avon and her husband Kenneth, Dorothy Durkin and her husband Michael, and Emil Cola Jr. and his wife Susan; grandchildren Danielle McAvinue and her husband Dennis, Kenneth Avon Jr., Steven Avon and Emil Cola; great-grandchildren Zoey Avon, Kylie and Logan McAvinue; and his companion, Sue Peck. 

He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy (Rossi) Cola.

Visiting hours will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, March 18, at McCorry Brothers Funeral Home, 780 Anderson Ave., in Cliffside Park. The funeral will be from the funeral home on Saturday at 9:15 a.m.; a funeral mass will be celebrated at Church of the Epiphany, 247 Knox Ave., in Cliffside Park, at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow at Madonna Mausoleum, in Fort Lee.
