Anne M. DiPietro Caponegro, 92, Cliffside Park Resident

CLIFFSIDE PARK, N.J. -- Anne M. DiPietro Caponegro -- a Cliffside Park resident, formerly of Oradell, Stuart, Florida, and Manassas, Virginia -- died on Friday, June 10. She was 92.

Caponegro graduated early from North Bergen High School and became a bookkeeper and accountant. She also became an accomplished businesswoman who broke the glass ceilings in the 1960s as the financial controller for American Express Credit Corp. and Pierre Cardin.

In her later years, she was a successful realtor for Re/Max of Hillsdale. "Anne will be remembered for her ravenous love of reading, her undeniable spirit and no-nonsense never-quit business attitude," information from the funeral home noted.

Caponegro is survived by her children, Ernest Caponegro and his wife Ida of Point Pleasant, Eugina Franco and her husband Frank of Tallahassee, Florida, Elinda Caponegro-Kees and her husband Robert of Winter Springs, Florida, and Thomas Caponegro of Cliffside Park; sister Josephine Mattiaccio of Mahwah; seven grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and family.

She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Joseph Caponegro; parents Antonino and Giuseppina DiPietro; and two sisters and a brother.

Visiting hours will be from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, and 8:30 a.m. on Thursday at A.K. Macagna Funeral Home, 495 Anderson Ave., in Cliffside Park. A funeral mass will be offered at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Church, 400 Kamena St., in Fairview. Interment will follow at Mary Rest Cemetery, in Mahwah.
