EDGEWATER, N.J. — Pedestrians watched in shock and sadness on Wednesday afternoon as demolition began on Edgewater's Binghamton ferry.

A new floating restaurant, however, is on its way, according to NorthJersey.com . It boast more than 900 seats and a catering hall, and will be named Binghamton II, after the beloved steamboat, the article says.

The retired ferryboat operated from 1905 to 1967, transporting passengers across the Hudson River between Manhattan and Hoboken. It later became a popular nightspot in the area.
