Edgewater Son Of NYC Mayor's Ex-Aide Re-Indicted In Fatal Teen Stabbing

EDGEWATER, N.J. — The Edgewater son of the former chief of staff to New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio's wife was re-indicted on charges of weapon possession and hindering an investigation following the fatal stabbing of a teenage boy from Rockland, in January 2016, NorthJersey.com reports.

A grand jury handed Khari Noerdlinger the new set of indictments last week, which his lawyer says is to avoid having to respond to a motion to dismiss the remaining charges because of alleged perjury and misconduct, the story says.

The 16-year-old victim was one of five people -- all from Rockland County -- who accosted Khari E. Noerdlinger, 19, of Edgewater on Old River Road around 10:30 p.m.Sunday, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said last year.

"An altercation ensued" in which the victim was stabbed in the femoral artery in his leg, Grewal said.

The boy -- identified by police in Spring Valley as Savion Lewallen -- died overnight at Hackensack University Medical Center after being flown there by medical helicopter from Palisades General Hospital in North Bergen.

Edgewater police were called after he was brought into the hospital, Grewal said.

As a result, Noerdlinger and four other people -- all of them from Rockland County -- were arrested and charged, he said.

Noerdlinger was being held on $500,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with aggravated manslaughter, weapons possession and resisting arrest.

Charged with various armed robbery and conspiracy counts were Kevensky Lubin, 28, Richard Jean-Pierre, 18, and Calim Gaspard, 23, all of Spring Valley, and Mirleny Tremols, 33, of Nyack. They were being held on $750,000 bail each.
