The former New York Giant turns 35 on Wednesday.

The Giants drafted Ositadimma "Osi" Umenyiora in the second round of the 2003 NFL draft. He went on to be selected to the Pro Bowl and set the Giants current record for sacks in one game -- six against the Philadelphia Eagles in October 2007.

He is one of three British-born players to have won a Super Bowl, joining wide receiver Scott McCready and former Giants teammate Lawrence Tynes, a kicker.

Umenyiora is of Igbo descent. His full first name means in Igbo "from today on things will be good."

Umenyiora was born in Golders Green, London to Nigerian parents. His family moved back to Nigeria and later to Auburn, Alabama, where he started playing football in high school.

Umenyiora also played for the Falcons in the National Football League (NFL), then was signed to a one-day contract by New York so that he could retire as a Giant.
