Indian Grocery Service Unites Hundreds In Edgewater

EDGEWATER, N.J. — Cartrize has two missions:

  • One: Deliver fresh Indian groceries to every Asian household's doorstep with just one click.
  • Two: Unite the Asian communities in Bergen and Hudson counties in celebration — coming up next month in Edgewater.

Company founder and North Bergen mother Shweta Ghuge has organized the company's first Dandiya Dhamaka celebration at the American Legion Post Oct. 8 (SEE ATTACHMENT BELOW FOR MORE).

"It's all about promoting culture and ethnicity," said Ghuge of the event, largely organized with help from Supriya Shankar of Edgewater.

The traditional celebration honors Navaratri, a festival dedicated to the worship of the Hindu deity "Durga."

Cartrize has been serving the tri-state area for the past year, bringing pertinent Indian foods such as okra, paneer and some health and beauty products right to your doorstep through a smartphone app.

Ghuge's company is partnering with several local businesses to brings hundreds of Indians together including:

  • Wells Fargo of West New York
  • Spa 10
  • Namaste in Edgewater
  • Sweta Patel Realty in Fort Lee
  • Kumon in Cliffside Park

Dandiya Dhamka will be on Oct. 8 from 6 to 10:10 p.m. at the American Legion Post in Edgewater.
