The story behind the health-oriented treats has a very "mom and pop" (sorry: couldn't resist the pun) story with ties to New Jersey.
The idea came when Owner (and Vernon native) Marisa Teiner developed a pop made with healing ingredients for her son, Chace, who was suffering from a bad stomach virus.
Teiner, who has a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from FIU in Miami, FL and is certified in Health Supportive Cooking from the Natural Gourmet Cookery School in Manhattan, took the idea in June 2013 to the Rutger’s Food Innovation Center in Bridgeton where she started the beginning phase of her company. She then reached out to Joe Flock, a food scientist from Pennsylvania to continue product development; he is now her partner.
Three and a half years and three flavors later, she submitted her products into business plan contests and ended up as a runner-up to the Rutgers Seed Contest.
Feel Better Pops officially launched in Summer 2017.
Tummy and Immunity flavors include Apple Pie, Simply Peach and Pineapple Banana Smoothie, all of which are made with Super Fruits.
According to Treiner, fruit is the first ingredient, followed by coconut water (for hydration and electrolytes), and herbal extracts to support digestion. They also use a temperature stable patented form of probiotics.
There are no coloring agents, parabens and dyes. "Our ingredients are simple and pure," she said.
