The monthly writers group meets at 7 p.m. in the library’s Mackay Room.

The session meets the 2nd Thursday of each month, and the program is free and open to the public. Writer Bob Haveson has established the meetings at the library, but stresses that people will take turns leading the group. The idea is to have a group of writers feeling free to express their work, and to encourage each other.

The group will determine over time how best to proceed, and there are some initial suggestions to move the group along in its infancy.

For those suggestions, see the Nov. 10 writer's group link on the library's website. Click in the Calendar of Events section in the lower right corner.

Haveson said growth comes easier with encouragement. "We are encouraged two ways. One of the ways is when you enjoy something you hear, and hopefully, you will try to write something also. The second way is when we critique constructively while being polite and give credit for what parts we like, hopefully that will encourage the writer," he said.

For further information on the writer's group, contact the Programming Department, 201-568-2215 ext. 244 or e-mail programming@englewood.bccls.org.
