Fairview Library Organizes Programs For National Poetry Month

FAIRVIEW, N.J. -- The Fairview Library will be hosting two programs at the end of April on honor of National Poetry Month.

A "Black Out Poetry" activity for children in the fifth grade and up will be held on Friday, April 22. 

Kids will each take discarded newspapers and magazine articles and use a sharpie marker to black out most of the words expect for the text that appeals to them. The words that are left become their poem. 

An open mic poetry event for all ages will be held on Friday, April 29 at 3 p.m. 

Attendees can read their own work or recite someone else's. Poems that will be read must be emailed to director@fairview.bccls.org.
