EDGEWATER, N.J. – The Edgewater Free Public Library is hosting the following upcoming events in February to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the library’s Carnegie Building.

Monday — Happy Birthday Breakfast from 10 a.m. to noon: Original Pancake House will provide breakfast and Starbucks of Edgewater will provide the coffee. Everyone is welcome.

7 p.m.: Doug Hall will present “A History of Edgewater,” in the Meeting Room

Tuesday — Time Capsule Tuesday: The library’s time capsule will be on display. Patrons are encouraged to suggest items that they think should be included.

4 p.m.: children in first through sixth grades are invited to create their own time capsule.

Wednesday – Remember Wednesday

4 p.m. – Children in first through sixth grades will have time to complete their own time capsule.

5 p.m. – The children can then design the Library of the Future and create the design of the library they think will exist in 100 years. A prize will be given.

Thursday --Throwback Thursday: All day long the staff will dress up in 1915-1916 attire to serve the public, just like the “olden days.”

4 p.m. – For first through third grades: Bookmark Project and continuation of “Design Your Library”

Friday -- Fundraising Friday: The library will initiate fundraising of the Brick Walkway for the Doris Farr Memorial Reading Garden.

11 a.m. – Draw and color pictures of the Edgewater Free Public Library during Tiny Hands Art Class.

4 p.m. – For first through third grades: “Make Your Own Pathway.” Create a commemorative brick to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the library building and decorate the downstairs wall.

Monday, Feb. 29 – “Someone Must Wash the Dishes: An Anti-Suffrage Satire” from 7-8:30 p.m. Many women fought against getting the vote, but none with more charm, prettier clothes – and less logic –than the fictional speaker in “Someone Must Wash the Dishes: An Anti-Suffrage Satire.” Michele LaRue will perform this satirical program, depicting life prior to women achieving the right to vote in 1920.

The Edgewater Public Libary is located at 48 Hudson Avenue.
