This year's pageant will feature male and female contestants all competing to be named Mr. & Miss Bogota and earn a scholarship on behalf of the BCA.
"This year we are thrilled that we will have a Mr. Bogota contest join the Miss Bogota," BCA Vice President Ingrid Dominguez said. "We are very excited to begin the event."
Eight elementary school-aged boys and girls are signed up to compete in the pageant, the vice president said.
In the next two and a half months, each contestant will have to fulfill a variety of responsibilities, leading up to the talent show and beauty pageant on April 22 at Bogota High School.
Among those responsibilities are a series of workshops on topics such as etiquette and protocol, making healthy choices, internet safety, public speaking/modeling, peer pressure/peer mediation, and cyberbullying, among others.
"We wanted to do workshops on things that other kids their age are struggling with," Dominguez said.
There will also be several fundraisers that the contestants will participate in to raise money for the scholarship.
At the talent show and beauty pageant, each contestant will participate in a talent competition, modeling contest, and each contestant will answer one question.
