Edgewater's Gymguyz Revolutionizes Workouts On Wheels

EDGEWATER, N.J. — Making it to the gym is half the battle when it comes to getting in shape, but an Edgewater-based fitness company has done away with that part altogether.

The big, red GYMGUYZ van comes to its clients — equipment, trainers and all.

“People recognize the value in home-based businesses,” said Edgewater’s Josh Grinstead, 44.

His Bergen County branch has home bases in Paramus, Fort Lee, Edgewater and Tenafly, and was recently named the fastest-growing GYMGUYZ branch in the nation.

Grinstead's trainers service clients in Glen Rock, Wayne, Ridgewood, Closter, Ramsey, Hoboken and dozens of other Bergen County municipalities.

Convenient. Customized. Creative.

That's the GYMGUYZ motto — one that resonated deeply with Grinstead when he first came on board.

"As a younger man up through my early 30s, fitness was big part of life," he said. "Then I got sucked up in the corporate world as my career progressed."

His weight climbed up to 195 — two pants sizes — and Grinstead decided he was going to make fitness a part of his routine again.

By combining plyometric exercises, cardio, strength training and a healthy diet — all part of the GYMGUYZ method — he dropped 35 pounds.

It's been a steady commitment since then, one that he hopes to inspire amongst his clientele.

“The idea is that you’re providing the client with what works for them," Grinstead explained.

“It’s faster and more effective than going to the gym."

Trainers draw up meal and exercise plans to help clients achieve both long and short-term goals.

With GYMGUYZ, it's all done from the comfort of their own homes.

“The results are better than a regular gym," he said, "and I think we deliver that.”
