Owners Tatiana Vega and Alvaro Perez said they realized the need for a children's gym in Edgewater after living in an apartment with their child.
"We lived in an apartment in Edgewater with our one year old and there was nowhere for my kid to run around and have space to play," Vega told Daily Voice. "It's like that for a lot of families here because a lot of people live in apartments."
Vega and Perez opened their first "My Gym" franchise in Hoboken in 2012, and then another in Jersey City before finally finding a good space in Edgewater to open up their third location.
Vega says "My Gym" gives kids a lot more than just an energy release.
"It's a program where we teach kids physical activity in a really fun way," Vega said. "They learn to exercise and stay active without even knowing they are doing it."
"My Gym," which caters to children between 0-13 years old, offers a variety of services, including exercise classes, sports instruction, after school programs, and "Mommy & Me" classes.
"My Gym" is also available for birthday parties and parent's night out.
Vega said some of the activities kids participate in include song and dance, gymnastics, cardio, basketball, tennis and soccer.
"Our classes will help kids gain strength, work on balance, coordination, flexibility, and even develop social skills," Vega said. "We all live in apartments without yard space. Here is a great opportunity to let your kids run that energy that they can’t at home."
